Commonly known as an “exchange program,” this is an international study opportunity based on a credit system. It allows students to complete one semester or a full academic year at a partner overseas university, receiving an official transcript and credit certificate from the host institution. These credits can then be recognized and converted into undergraduate credits at the home university according to its credit transfer policy.

Credits earned through the program typically apply toward elective courses, major electives, and sometimes core courses. Important: Students should confirm credit transfer rules with their home university in advance.

Significantly enhance academic competitiveness
Gain access to cutting-edge international academic resources, participate in seminars and lab projects, strengthen research skills with mentor support, align your expertise with global academic frontiers, and improve both paper quality and academic thinking.
Greatly Improve English Proficiency
Fully English-taught courses and living environment create a natural “language training ground.” This helps rapidly enhance your listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, laying a solid language foundation for studying abroad and international work.
Mutual Recognition of International Credits
Credits earned during the exchange are recognized by your home university. Without delaying your academic progress, you can easily combine on-campus study with overseas exchange, making efficient use of your university years.
Expand Overseas Networks through Cross-Cultural Communication
Engage in a multicultural environment, interact with Malaysian, Chinese, and other international students, enhance cross-cultural communication skills, and build connections with overseas classmates and mentors to broaden international channels for future academic collaboration and career development.
Enhance Academic Credentials
Exchange experience strengthens your competitiveness when applying to overseas institutions. For domestic graduate studies, international exchange showcases your learning potential and comprehensive abilities, making your academic background more distinctive and helping you gain admission to top schools.
Enhance Employability
International exchange experience is a standout advantage on your resume. Employers prefer candidates with global vision and strong adaptability. Exchange experience highlights students’ learning ability and open mindset, helping them stand out in the job market.
Pre-admission Eligibility
Outstanding academic performance during the exchange may qualify students for UKM master’s pre-admission, bypassing regular competition and providing a secure pathway for further studies.
Customized Language Training
During the exchange, personalized language training is arranged based on students’ needs, helping them overcome language barriers early and meet the official language requirements for master’s admission.
Graduation Thesis Guidance
For students exchanging at the School of Engineering in the second semester of junior year or the first semester of senior year, engineering faculty mentors provide graduation thesis guidance to help improve professional skills and thesis quality, effectively boosting thesis grades and defense success rates.
Special Admission Policy
Exchange students from the School of Engineering applying for a master’s degree in the same faculty only need an IELTS score of 5.5. (The general university requirement is IELTS 6.0 or above.)
